Topic: Evidence-Based Practice and Applied Nursing Research

Topic: Evidence-Based Practice and Applied Nursing Research

Introduction:
Peer-reviewed research reports are reports reviewed by other credible experts in the field.
Nursing, as a profession, uses peer-reviewed primary research reports to make credible and
evidence-based practice implications and recommendations in the clinical area.
In this task, you will collect and analyze 10 research reports (primary research evidence) on
one topic of interest in nursing practice or healthcare.

Task:
A. Select piece of primary research (original research reports) from a research journal that has nursing implications and critique the article (suggested length of 2–3 pages) by doing the following:

1. Identify the article you have chosen in an APA-formatted citation.

2. Design a visual representation (e.g., graph or chart) to show how the researcher aIDressed the five areas of a research report (background information or introduction, review of the literature, discussion of methodology, specific data analysis, and conclusion).

3. Based on your analysis of the five areas, assess whether the evidence presented in the research report supports the researcher’s conclusion.

4. Discuss ethical issues that may have arisen for the researcher while conducting the
research for the article.

5. Discuss the type of research used for the study.

a. Explain whether or not other types of research would have been appropriate in
the same situation.

B. Conduct a literature search to evaluate nursing care or management implications of a
nursing intervention by doing the following:

1. Discuss evidence for a nursing care or management problem.

2. Complete the attached matrix to list 10 primary research sources, in APA format, from scholarly journal sources you locate in major medical databases (e.g., CINAHL,
PubMed, MedLine, or a hard copy journal).

Note: In aspect B you should gather 9 more pieces of similar research on the same topic as in aspect A so you have a total of 10 pieces of primary research to make a practice implication (a minimum of 8 authors should be used).

Note: Credible sources may include professional journals, research reports, professional Web sites, governmental reports, and presentations from professional meetings. Primary research articles must not be more than ten years old.

3. Conduct a review of the 10 peer-reviewed research articles in which you do the following:

a. Develop an annotated bibliography (suggested length of 2–3 pages) of the articles.

b. Discuss whether the researchers’ evidence collected is adequate to make a
recommendation for a practice change.

c. Identify whether the researchers chose tools that were similar or different.

d. Discuss whether you believe the tools the researchers chose could have affected their results.

4. Develop an evidence summary of the articles, identifying at least two key criteria that were used to develop it.

5. Recommend a specific nursing strategy based on the researcher’s recommendations
and evidence you found in your review.

6. Explain why you believe it is important to use a theoretical model for nursing
research.

Note: When using sources to support ideas and elements in a paper or project, the
submission MUST include APA formatted in-text citations with a corresponding reference list for any direct quotes or paraphrasing. It is not necessary to list sources that were consulted if they have not been quoted or paraphrased in the text of the paper or project.

Note: No more than a combined total of 30% of a submission can be directly quoted or
closely paraphrased from sources, even if cited correctly.

neurocognitive disorder essay

350 word essay on cognitive disorder, the questions below need to be answered

need 2 website references

Lisa brought her mother, June, in to see you for an evaluation because of the family’s concerns over June’s functioning. Over the past few months June has lost interest in many of the things that she used to enjoy and often spends her days watching hours of television. Lisa recently discovered that June has not been paying her bills and it took Lisa hours to understand how June has been managing the household finances and her checkbook. Lisa reported June has always kept very busy, and even though she still has a calendar full of appointments and plans, she often misses her meetings and social engagements. Lisa expressed concern over the fact that June will sometimes call Lisa by her sister’s name before correcting herself. June states there is nothing wrong with her and she is angry Lisa “won’t mind her own business.” She states Lisa and her sister just want to get their hands on June’s money and they’ve even been stealing her jewelry whenever they come to the house. She only agreed to come in for the evaluation to get them to leave her alone.

You plan to refer June for a full neuropsychological evaluation, but in the meantime you suspect that she may be suffering from a neurocognitive disorder.

What symptoms is June exhibiting that would lead you to the preliminary conclusion that she is suffering from a neurocognitive disorder?

What other questions would you ask to help determine the existence of other symptoms and to begin to determine the cause of the impairment?

What are some of the cultural or gender concerns that may impact June’s experience?

What are the next steps you would recommend to Lisa and June in order to obtain appropriate treatment?

How can the family and treatment team work with June’s resistance to considering something is wrong?

Your assignment should be at least 350 words

module 7 discussion 4

This is a discussion post for managing stress. Just please cite all references that you may have to use.

In your opinion: College is stressful. There are exams, quizzes and papers. Even preparing discussion postings can be stressful for some. There are many relaxation techniques for managing stress, including but not limited to breathing, meditation, yoga, massage, music therapy, just to name a few. When students have a deadline and are feeling stressed, what can they do to relax their mind and body to accomplish what they need to do? Which relaxation strategies would be most successful to achieve that outcome?

For each of the subsequent questions, please meaningfully integrate your readings including the text, articles, videos, and module notes in our conversation with each other.

For the remainder of this discussion, you will need to complete a relaxation technique of your choice. Choose one of the following meditations. All are freely available on the Internet, so you can return to them as often as you want.

• Mental imagery technique: UNH Health and Wellness. (2009) Take 5: The Forest Awakens – Guided Imagery for Stress Relief [Video File. 6 minutes]. Link is:

• Progressive muscular relaxation technique: . UNH Health and Wellness. (2011). Progressive Muscle Relaxation Meditation. [Video File, 11 minutes.] Link is:

• Autogenic technique: Buraik, Y. (2011). Autogenic Training. [Video File, 14 minutes.] Link is:

After completing the technique, we will consider the following questions together:

• Which technique did you select? What did you experience?

• These techniques may not work for everyone. Based on what we have learned so far this module, what strategies can we use to determine what would work best for someone? What pitfalls should we be aware of when introducing these techniques?

• An historical perspective reveals that every culture and/or religion practices some form of self-reflection and/or meditation. What are some of the differences between Western and Eastern cultures practicing these techniques?

Health Promotion Project Academic Essay

-Part 2-(Literature review)
This is the part 2 of the project (see attached the part 1, the instructions as for you to cover all items and an example to give you an idea but it is missing title, abstract pages)Course Project: Health Promotion Literature Review
In Week 1 you created a plan for the health promotion project for this course. (Writer, see attached Part 1 of this project with the professor feedback so you can proceed to part 2 or literature review)
Complete a comprehensive review of the literature on your topic. The goal of the review of the literature is to better understand the components of the health promotion problem identified. Begin with the selection and development of a theoretical framework for the project. Based upon this framework, you can select literature and data from a variety of resources to help explain the phenomena and to help identify potential interventions for the problem. Synthesize this information and utilize a conceptual framework to help integrate all aspects of the plan into a workable project. Utilize the feedback from your facilitator to improve each week’s work.
(A literature review discusses published information in a particular subject area. A literature review is a simple summary of the sources, and it usually has an organizational pattern and combines both summary and synthesis. A summary is a recap of the important information of the source, but a synthesis is a re-organization, or a reshuffling, of that information. For your projects you should have minimally 5 different sources you are reviewing.
A theoretical framework provides a broad explanation of relationships that exists between concepts. It provides organization for your project and gives it validity that it is grounded in theory. For this project you should mention which nurse theorist you will base you work upon.
Some theoretical frameworks from nursing
• Uncertainty: Mishel (1988)
• Interpersonal theory: Peplau (1988)
• Health promotion: Pender (1987)
• Goal attainment: King (1981)
• Interaction model of client behavior: Cox (1982)
• Self-care deficit theory: Orem (1991
• Unitary person: Rogers (1970)
• Adaptation: Roy (1984)
• Systems model: Neuman (1972)
Grading Criteria Maximum Points
Provide a comprehensive review of literature and data sources relevant to the question. 30
Provide evidence of synthesis and analysis of the literature. 15
